Skills training means higher employability
The announcement of a 4.9% unemployment rate was welcomed by the Industry Training Federation today.
“We need to continue to bed in skills training throughout society so that people develop their employability: better skills levels mean better employment opportunities”, said Darel Hall Executive Director of the Industry Training Federation.
“The Industry Training Federation agrees with the Government’s goal of 150,000 people in workplace-based training by 2005. That commitment to training enhances the employability of people and will contribute to sustaining low unemployment rates.
“There is clearly more to do for the people that
remain unemployed. Depending on funding, work on this may
form part of the new skills and training needs leadership
role legislated for
ITOs.
