Malborough Express Award Winner For 6th Year
The Marlborough Express newspaper was a big winner at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers’ Association’s (PANPA’s) 2004 Newspaper Advertising Awards held recently in Sydney.
Strawberries provided the inspiration for an advertisement that won the top award for the most effective use of colour in the newspapers under 15,000 circulation category. The newspaper also picked up a second major award for the best advertising feature or supplement in the same circulation category for its supplement on last year’s Classic Fighters Marlborough Easter Air Show.
“The supplement had a great cover, excellent layout and typography and consistent quality throughout which returned an excellent revenue result,” judges said. “It was also a top read.”
A simple layout and clever use of spot colour impressed the judges in the Most Effective Use of Colour award. They said the advertisement for “Really Big Strawberries” exhibited clean typography, clear reproduction and relevant placement.
The Marlborough Express general manager, Roger Rose, said winning the award was a testament to the consistent flair in creativity, design and print quality demonstrated by Express staff.
“Over 350 newspapers from Australia, South East Asia and New Zealand enter these awards and it is fantastic that every year for six years we have managed to win at least one major award.”
