Bee Industry Field Day
The North Otago Province of the New Zealand Bee Industry Group (NZBIG) is hosting a bee industry field day and forum on Saturday 15 May at the Maheno Tavern, in Maheno, North Otago.
The day will tackle two main areas of interest to the bee industry. The morning will focus on risk management programmes for harvesting and processing bee products. The afternoon session will look at an initiative for securing ongoing funding for the bee industry.
“There are just two years to go before beekeepers have to meet new rules regarding harvest and process of bee products. It is important for beekeepers to participate and offer feedback so that the NZBIG team working with the New Zealand Food Safety Authority can best represent beekeepers,” says Lin McKenzie, National Executive member of the NZ Bee Industry Group and one of the field day convenors.
“The field day is an opportunity to brief the industry on an initiative that the NZBIG Executive is recommending to beekeepers to help fund long term bee industry research.”
The day is free and open to all interested parties.
