Coll MacRury appointed Seeka’s new general manager post harvest

Coll MacRury has been appointed general manager post harvest for Seeka Kiwifruit Industries Limited.

Operating eight major kiwifruit packing and coolstorage sites with a capacity to handle 12 million trays of kiwifruit, Coll will be providing leadership and strategic direction to Seeka’s supply chain operations. As a key member of Seeka’s management team, Coll will be overlooking day-to-day post harvest operations, while managing inventory capacity through Seeka’s ongoing capital investment programme.

Prior to joining Seeka, Coll was group general manager for AFFCO NZ Ltd where he was responsible for 11 processing plants. Coll developed strong skills in managing the processing industry during his 17 years at AFFCO, working both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Coll is a graduate of the general manager programme from the Australian School of Management, plus has Masters in Business Administration with honours.

“Coll’s proven ability to drive productivity while containing costs will be vital as Seeka expands our operations to meet the surge in fruit supply,” says Seeka’s managing director Tony de Farias.

“His vast experience in the meat processing industry, means Coll brings an extra dimension to our skill base and ensures we have the management resources and capability to drive our business forward,” says Tony.

Background information

Processing more than 14 per cent of New Zealand’s total kiwifruit production, Seeka is New Zealand’s largest integrated kiwifruit supplier servicing the Bay of Plenty’s major growing regions of Te Puke, Tauranga and Katikati.

For harvest 2004, Seeka employed more than 1200 people to pick, pack, store and deliver nearly 12 million trays of export-quality kiwifruit.

Seeka’s has a record of corporate governance and transparent business processes, and is listed on the NZAX.
