Freedom Air To Launch New Direct Wellington – Fiji Service
Freedom Air today announced that it will become the only airline to offer direct services from Wellington to Fiji, with new services due to take-off early in the new year.
Bookings for the new Fiji service will go on sale in August 2004. Further details of the new service will be announced in the coming weeks.
Michael Young, Freedom Air acting general manager, says the new service from Wellington follows the successful launch of the airline’s Fiji services from Hamilton, Palmerston North and Christchurch. “Fiji has proven to be an extremely popular holiday destination for New Zealanders with more than 14,000 bookings made on our new services so far,” he says. “Our direct flights to Fiji and really, really small fares will make a tropical holiday in Fiji a reality for more Wellingtonians.”
Freedom Air’s Fiji services are part of a new strategic direction that will see the airline investigate new holiday destinations within a five-hour flight time of New Zealand. “We will continue to evaluate other new routes and anticipate more exciting announcements in the near future,” Young says.
