Air Tahiti Nui Welcomed To Amex Membership Rewards

American Exress Welcomes Air Tahiti Nui As Membership Rewards Direct Ticket Partner

Programme offers expanded routes as well as business and first class options Auckland, 29 July 2004 ? Air Tahiti Nui is the latest airline to join the Membership Rewards direct ticket loyalty scheme ? offering the facility for American Express New Zealand Cardmembers to redeem points for flights to an expanded range of destinations that now include Tahiti, Japan, the United States and Europe.

American Express Country Manager Rob Hennin said it was an exciting enhancement to the company's Membership Rewards Direct Ticket initiative launched earlier this year.

"By booking directly through American Express our Cardmembers can use accumulated loyalty points for flights for themselves, their family or their friends without needing to belong to individual airline programmes," Mr Hennin said.

"This flexibility and value has been extremely well received by our customers.

"Air Tahiti Nui is the leading carrier to French Polynesia and by offering flights to Tahiti and Paris means our Direct Ticket network now services two of the world's most romantic destinations. Flying also via Tahiti to Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, and Los Angeles in the United States greatly enhances the general travel options open to Cardmembers through our market-leading direct ticket scheme."

The agreement with Air Tahiti Nui offers economy class seats to Tahiti for 50k points and to Los Angeles for 100k.

"Business and First class seats mean that the travel needs of our affluent Cardmembers are also better catered for," Mr Hennin said.

Membership Rewards Direct Ticket was launched in March with ticket sales initially on trans-Tasman routes and main domestic routes.

Special offers mean domestic flights through Membership Rewards Direct Tickets start from as little as 10,000 points ? with trans-Tasman flights currently just 25k points. With the ability to earn two points for every dollar spent on American Express Cards this means Cardmembers can reward themselves with flights faster than through any other Card loyalty programme.

Other Membership Rewards Direct Ticket partners are: Qantas Airways, Emirates, Thai Airways and Origin Pacific.

American Express continues to offer the option of transferring points to the air miles programmes of select airline partners and will continue to enhance its market leading non-air redemption options, RapidRewards.
