Hundreds take a tumble with Kim Crawford Wines and Riedel

August 26, 2004 – Sunday night isn’t normally party time, but then again, this was no ordinary product launch.

More than 400 invited guests were at Ponsonby’s SPQR this past Sunday (August 22) to help Kim Crawford Wines celebrate the New Zealand launch of the most exciting innovation in wine drinking since the screwcap – Riedel ‘O’ stemless glassware.

Pioneering Austrian glassmaker Riedel has come up with a stylish innovation that will change the way we imbibe forever – a range of funky, stemless wine tumblers based on the benchmark shapes of the Riedel Vinum range.

The different bulb shapes of the Riedel ‘O’ range allow drinkers to match a glass to a wine style, enabling them to more fully experience a wine’s specific varietal characters and flavour profiles.

Erica Crawford, Principal of Kim Crawford Wines, says as an innovative company itself, KCW was delighted to help launch Riedel ‘O’ into the New Zealand market.

“Kim Crawford Wines is all about quality, innovation, and challenging convention. We demonstrated these characteristics through our early adoption of screwcaps and we’re doing it again with our support for ‘O’,” says Erica.

“It makes sense for us to team up with Riedel, a brand which has shown a similar commitment to innovation by producing a fun glass for serious wine.”

‘O’ tumblers are available in six shapes to match the wine varietal being drunk: Cabernet Merlot, Pinot/Nebbiolo, Syrah/Shiraz, Chardonnay, Viognier/Chardonnay, and Riesling/Sauvignon.

The tumblers are distributed by Hancocks and available through Glengarry wine stores.
