Wellington Young Executive To Compete In Auckland

The New Zealand Institute of Management, Central announced the winner of the NZIM Regional Young Executive of the Year Award at a breakfast function yesterday morning with Dr Don Brash MP.

Aolele Su’a Aloese, Cook Islands Audit Office, received first place out of six other Wellington finalists.

NZIM Central Chief Executive, Ian Balfour said Aolele had an outstanding work ethic and had achieved an enormous amount throughout her career.

“Aolele’s experience and ambition is certainly deserving of the title of the Young Executive of the Year. We wish her well for the finals in Auckland next month, “he said.

The Young Executive Award was established in 1994 and is seen by many as a passport to a successful career in senior management. It is awarded to men and women under 35 who have a proven track record of high performance, a strong management style, financial and strategic impact on their workplace, and who are prepared to embrace emerging technologies and practices and search out new opportunities.

Aolele Su'a Aloese is the Acting Audit Manager for the Cook Islands Audit Office. She is currently on an NZAID funded project assisting the Cook Islands Audit Office with the completion of the audits of their Crown Accounts and Ministry Audits. Aolele is originally a chartered accountant from Wellington and has worked in her own consultancy firm, KB Consultants Ltd before joining the Audit Office in February 2004.

“I was hesitant when my manager asked to nominate me but realised for my senior to put me forward I must be positively contributing to my organisation which is a great feeling,” said Aolele.

“It’s such a privilege to be back in New Zealand and be recognised for the contribution I am making in the Pacific. I’m very proud to have received this recognition from the Institute and from my peers,” she said.

Aolele will progress to the finals of the NZIM Young Executive Award in Auckland on 25 November 2004 to be held with the Deloitte/Management Top 200 Awards. She will be up against candidates selected from Auckland, Canterbury and Otago regions.
