Financial Information In Offer Documents – Transition to International Accounting Standards
The Securities Commission today released a practice note about the application of accounting standards in offer documents.
Securities Commission Practice Note No 2/2004 covers the transition period before international financial reporting standards are adopted. Certain New Zealand companies must adopt international financial reporting standards from January 2007. Some companies may choose to do so from January 2005.
The practice note sets out the approach the Commission will take in relation to offer documents during the transition period, to ensure an appropriate level of information is provided to investors. The new practice note follows the issuing of a draft practice note for comment earlier this year.
The practice note is available from the Commission’s website: www.sec-com.govt.nz.
