ADT/Amourguard Helps ChCh Man With Security

Staff Saw The Chance To Assist The Watts Family

The Christchurch-based staff of security firm ADT/Amourguard see their offer of assistance to pensioner Gordon Watt and his family as a way of taking the pressure off a stressed family.

Gordon Watt is presented with a personal assistance alarm from ADT/Amourguard.

Regional manager Tony Smith said the practical suggestions for helping the Watts family came from staff themselves, and he was quick to give them his blessing because the company is based in the community and has excellent security coverage.

“This a family for whom things are already pretty tough, without some hoon element instilling fear late at night.

“The Watts have accepted our offer of free patrols during the night, and we have also installed a personal assistance alarm. This alarm will allow Gordon to contact us immediately if anything is thrown at the house. We have also asked they also contact police at the same time

“Our personal assistance alarm, called NevaAlone, is often used by the elderly or those with special medical needs. It is a type of ‘panic button’, and when the signal is received by our monitoring centre, a vehicle is dispatched.

“We are out there to help them, so this will give the Watts family an additional level of comfort.”

Tony Smith stresses that ADT/Armourguard is not taking over the role of Police, as they will also be called.

“If we are able to identify the hoons that will be an added bonus, and the rest of community will be able to see what sort of people attack the property of those least able to help themselves.”
