Greek Travel Includes Five Aegean Tours for 2006

Escaping the New Zealand winter with a bunch of like-minded women, a pilgrimage to Gallipoli for a commemorative tour, three weeks fun loving sun in the Greek Islands, a free style wander through the islands in September or October are all on offer as Greek Travel grows its holiday offerings.

Travel planner and tour host Jane Scheib has included 5 tours of the Aegean area for 2006 as she meets increasing demand for top quality, personally hosted and relaxed travel to the region.

A fluent Greek speaker and Queenstown based businesswoman, Jane Scheib began hosting tours to Greece in 2001 as a way of getting back to the country she fell in love with on an extended OE in the 1970's.

"I stopped there, like so many other Kiwis, low on money and needing a warm up after an Austrian ski season. Eight years later, I came back to New Zealand, motherhood and real life. But I always knew I would return."

Jane's tours are designed for New Zealanders and the forthright national travel style that sees Kiwis getting fully involved in local life and thoroughly enjoying the company of fellow travellers and local hosts.

"There's plenty of free time to relax and explore or follow individual itineraries. At the same time there's plenty to do and as much structure as any individual would like."

Jane's first tours were women only and took place annually in May.

"On my first tour I escorted seven Queenstown women and we had a fantastic time. Since then, I have found there are many women who have always dreamed of going to the Greek Islands or always vowed to return. Most are fun loving, aged between 50 and 70 and make lifelong friends within the group. For these women, the women's only tour in May is just perfect."

Since 2001, Jane's tours have grown to include commemorative trips to Gallipoli for Anzac Day and excursions into Turkey and lesser known areas in Greece. The tours take in Aegean Islands and include side tours that explore the history, culture and beauty of the region. For the first time next year, those travelling on the October tour will enjoy time aboard a luxury gulet or wooden motorsailer.

"Think vivid blue seas and sky, sun-beaten earth, craggy landscapes and small whitewashed villages combined with ancient history and the exciting markets of Turkish and Greek towns. These tours are synonymous with romance and excitement, great food and wine, history and culture, sun and white sand beaches.

They said it. comments from clients who lived the dream in 2005:

Brilliant Tour! Really enjoyable and well organised.
Terry Hewitt, Ashburton

I had a ball and can only appreciate it more as I tell other and sit and think about it. The anniversary of the Battle of Crete for me was one of the highlights! Thank you.
Diane Vincent-Collie, Otautau

Thank you for a lovely tour. I know I shall be reporting on my travels with great enthusiasm for a long time to come, and your efforts in planning the tour and supporting us all made this so much more than a tour of a commercial nature! I wish to convey much more than thank you. Best wishes Nell Nisbett, Christchurch.
