Great Grandmother Wins $52,000 Mortgage Bonus

Great-grandmother Laura Lord got the "surprise of her life" when Generation Developments director David Mansel called her name as the winner of the $52,000 mortgage bonus.

Mrs Lord, who lives in Generation's Milford by the sea subdivision, says the most she's ever won before was a couple raffles at Probus.

"I'm quite stunned at the news. I never really thought I'd win so didn't even have any thoughts about what I'd do with the money. I feel like I'm in a dream."

The Generation Development promotion has been running since June 1, 2005 with all those buying home and land packages within Addison, Beach Cove and Milford by the sea before 5pm on the 31st of August automatically entered into the draw.

Mrs Lord is having her second Generation home built at Addison at present and will move in this December.

"I needed a bigger house because there's not enough room when all my grandchildren and family come to stay – so I decided to crank it up and go for a four bedroom home."

While she hasn't made any firm plans for the money, Mrs Lord expects her family will enjoy a "very good Christmas in the new Addison house".

David Mansel drew the winner's name from the back of a truck outside Milford by the sea's showhome, under the watchful eye of Papamoa Police community constable Mike McKenzie.

"It's great to see the prize go to someone who is such a fan of Generation. We're thrilled Laura enjoys living in a Generation community so much, that she's chosen to buy another home with us and I'm genuinely delighted to hand over $52,000 to her."
