Vector's Work/Life balance programme recognised by EEO Trust

Vector won the prestigious large organisation category at this year's Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) Trust Work & Life Awards presented by the Prime Minister on Thursday 1 September.

Vector CEO Mark Franklin says he is delighted that the company's work-life programme, VectorLife, has been recognised by the EEO Trust.

"Vector is a 24 hour, seven day business and our people are our most important resource. We are committed to providing an environment which empowers people to achieve professionally at the same time as maintaining the right balance with other important life commitments - including family, health, fitness and personal happiness.

Since 1998, the EEO Trust has been honouring New Zealand workplaces that enable and encourage work/life balance. The awards celebrate and reward best practice in work and life, and benchmark New Zealand workplaces on work-life balance initiatives. For VectorLife to be considered 'best practice' after its introduction only a short time ago is testament to the commitment of everyone involved."

Mr Franklin says that the VectorLife programme aims to give staff the flexibility to take care of their life and family. It includes flexible working hours, the opportunity to work from home, flexibility with leave, physical fitness and health management incentives.

"This award recognises our VectorLife programme and the flexibility we have attained in our workforce, whilst reducing our cost of employment and our turnover rates. The company has already seen benefits due to improved health and well-being, reduced absenteeism, improved staff retention and a greater ability to attract new staff."
