New Music TV Channel Comes To Auckland - Very Soon
MEDIA RELEASE:
There’s a new kid in town, as Auckland television gets a brand new, little brother
free- to - air channel beginning November 14 / 05!
Aucklanders finally get another chance to choose what they want to watch, when on Monday November 14th a new, (as yet) untitled completely independent free-to-air television channel will be launched on an unsuspecting public.
Located between Prime TV and TV One on UHF 62, the young upstart music-focused channel will be free to air, broadcasting initially to New Zealand’s largest potential audience in the suburbs & city of Auckland.
By utilising new mobile technology, providing nicam stereo music videos on demand - together with a lo-fi accessible approach to programming & hosts, Thane Kirby (head of programming) expects it to attract the eyeballs of a lucrative 16 to 35 year old target audience.
"We're out to seek the talents of new personalities, not recycle TV has-beens in a city too small to see the same faces again & again. So if you're young, willing & able - talk to us, we'll be based in K'Rd... And together with the late night boundary pushing programming we're investing in, it’s definitely going to an interesting alternative in TV Land."
"Its lo-fi reality minded TV" Kirby adds " And obviously we're not going to change the world - just give you something decent to watch."
Right next door to the iconic Verona bar (now also conveniently the new boardroom), the station is to be located along Karangahape Road. "It's the perfect location for viewers to drop in and say hello, or pick up a prize" says Station Manager Ricky Newby - "...we're that kind of TV station, just don't use our car parks, they cost us a fortune."
