Big Ratings Week For Prime

Big Ratings Week For Prime

Prime recorded its best performance of the year last week with a 6.1% share of all viewing 17:30 – 22:30.

The network’s top performing programme last week was the brilliant Top Gear with an average audience of 228,000 and a 13% channel share. (All People 5+)

Three-part Prime documentary, Windsor: The Queen’s Castle and Paul Holmes’ new weekly current affairs programme, Holmes, premiered strongly last week with average audiences of 202,000 (13% channel share) and 124,000 (8% channel share) respectively.

The network recently commissioned Nielsen Audience research to provide ongoing ratings relevant to all homes that can access Prime satisfactorily. For the first time, this has allowed Prime’s performance to be measured on a level playing field with the other free to air networks. The impressive results obtained to date, provide a positive outlook for the network as its penetration continues to grow. Ratings for the Auckland Urban region are especially significant, showing Prime delivering a 9% share of audience (17:30 – 22:30) against All People 5+ and Prime’s core demographic All People 25 – 54.

Another strong week looks imminent with last night’s record ratings. Prime delivered its best Sunday night of the year with a share of 8% for All People 5+.

With upcoming strong local programme launches for New Zealand’s Top 100 History Makers and Out of the Question, Prime looks set to finish the year strongly and realise the benefits of a maturing schedule.
