Announcement on Carbon Tax Sensible - Chamber of Commerce
The Government’s announcement that it will not be implementing a carbon tax in 2007 is a sensible move, according to Simon Arnold, President of the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“For some time we have been arguing that this was poor policy. It would have increased the cost of energy and transport but would not achieve its stated aims of reducing carbon emissions.
“We look forward to working closely with the Government on the specific measures proposed to manage carbon emissions. We want to make sure that any such measures are of much greater quality,” he concluded.
