Lifestyle Farmers Field Day plans well in hand

The organiser of the Lifestyle Farmers Field Day to be held in Otaki on May 27, says he's had an excellent response from companies and individuals wanting to exhibit at the event.

Peter Burke who's been running the event for 15 years, says he's delighted at the response and says four weeks out from the event, every thing is looking 'spot on' for a great show.

The field day is aimed at people who own lifestyle blocks or who are contemplating buying a block. The event is promoted in the lower half of the north island and features products and services that are of special interest to lifestyle farmers.

"For example we tend to have people promoting cattle that are of special interest to lifestylers - cattle such as mini highland cattle, dexters and other 'miniature' breeds. Trees and plants generally are popular with lifestylers and number of nurseries will have these on sale. Groups such as the Farm Forestry and Tree Crop Associations will also be at the field day', says Peter Burke.

A wide range of farm equipment such as ride-on powers, tractors and trailers will also be on show and there'll also be some farm buildings on display. Companies that hire our farm equipment and others who service small blocks for water and waste water disposal will also be there.

According to Peter Burke, lifestylers are always on the look-out for advice and all the major farm supply companies will be present to give advice and to sell product. The Greater Wellington Regional Council will be at the field day with staff providing advice of possum and rabbit control as well as offering ways to manage noxious plants.

While bookings for site are coming in think and fast, Peter Burke says there are still some sites left. The field day starts at 9am and finishes at 4pm. There is a $5 admission charge for adults and children and teenagers are free.
