Consumers Pick Skycity Hotels As Their Favourite

Consumers nominated all three SKYCITY hotels for awards at the recent inaugural HotelClub Australia and New Zealand Awards, with SKYCITY Auckland and SKYCITY Darwin scooping top award wins. SKYCITY Auckland’s 4+-star hotel received the ‘Top 3 Hotels in New Zealand’ award and SKYCITY Darwin’s 5-star resort received the ‘Top 3 Hotels in the Northern Territory’ award.

Grand Hotel in Auckland was also nominated as a finalist in the ‘Top 3 Hotels in New Zealand’ award. Jean Chapman, SKYCITY’s Director of Sales Corporate Australasia, and Lesa Bain, SKYCITY Darwin’s Rooms Manager, accepted the awards and acknowledged the exceptional team of people at SKYCITY as being a major contributing factor.

Ms Chapman said, “This award is confirmation of our hard work, the dedication of our staff, our young and enthusiastic team and the investment that has been made in the property by a forward thinking and dynamic management team.” Over 70,000 consumers from 170 countries voted for their favourite hotels through a survey run by HotelClub, Getaway and ninemsn from November 2005 to January 2006. Over 800 hotels were finalists and only 30 awards were presented. Ms Bain said these award wins were particularly gratifying given the way the winners were selected.

“Awards are always a source of pride but when they are based on our guests' feedback it is even more exciting and rewarding,” she said.
