'Buy Kiwi Made' – But Make Sure It's the Best!

24 May 2006

Of Course “Buy Kiwi Made” – But Make Sure It’s the Best!

The Trade Liberalisation Network today expressed support for the Government’s “Buy Kiwi Made” campaign, which received funding in last week’s Budget statement. At the same time, TLN urges the promoters to underline that New Zealanders should only buy our goods and services if they are the best choice.

“Of course we should be looking to “buy Kiwi made”, said TLN Chair Philip Lewin.

“This new campaign will provide better information about what’s on offer from New Zealand suppliers. That’s what it should do, and that’s why the New Zealand Trade Liberalisation Network supports it.

Philip Lewin added that it is vital the “buy Kiwi made” campaign continues to be run as a positive promotion of our products, not a negative campaign against products and services produced in other countries and sold here.

“New Zealanders’ lifestyles will further improve if our products and services are the best in the world, and have access to the rest of the world. We should back the home team wherever we can – but in doing so, let’s compete, not retreat!”
