Dancing with the Stars - The Figures
Around 1.2 million New Zealanders over the age of five years tuned in to Dancing with the Stars on TV ONE during the course of the programme's grand finale last night, won by former beauty queen Lorraine Downes and her dancing partner Aaron Gilmore.
Across the series, audiences averaged 800-thousand viewers per episode, compared with around 740-thousand last year.
That's an increase of 9.5% on last year's show.
In the hotly contested Auckland market the number of viewers was up 40% in the channel's demographic of people aged 25- 54.
This makes Dancing with the Stars the highest rating TV ONE series so far this year, in all key demographics. It's the number two show across all channels in the Auckland 25-54 market, beaten only by Desperate Housewives on TV2.
TVNZ says it will be some time yet before the amount of money earned for the contestants' charities can be announced.
There's expected to be a delay of about 90 days for telcos to work through their billing systems, and for the figures to be audited.
