PM’s State Of Nation Address: Encouraging Messages For Business...
“The high priority given to addressing critical issues affecting business performance is very clear and encouraging,” said Auckland Chamber of Commerce CEO, Michael Barnett.
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s State of the Nation Address to Parliament, Mr Barnett noted the “call to action” on issues such as improving broadband, building a skilled workforce, business taxation and getting improved access to world markets for Kiwi goods and services.
The strong focus on building a sustainable economy based on innovation and quality is a realistic approach, he said. In a world where high volume, low quality goods and services will always undercut us on price, it is essential that we build a global brand as a nation of innovators and high quality traders.
The Government commitment to encourage six of its top agencies to reach carbon neutrality by 2012 is both a challenge and opportunity to business, said Mr Barnett.
“Critical to business in assessing the many pro-business messages in this Address is that the supporting action steps will soon follow.”
