Nestlé Announces Voluntary Product Recall

Nestlé New Zealand today announced a voluntary national recall of two varieties of KIT KAT. The recall was initiated because of the possibility that some packs may contain small pieces of plastic.

The varieties affected are KIT KAT Caramel 65G and KIT KAT Cookie Dough 65G, with all Best Before dates up to and including 14th February 2008.

Mr Maurice Gunnell, Manager Corporate Services for Nestlé New Zealand said the company believes the plastic entered the packs during the production process.

"As a precaution, we are recalling all supplies of these products with all Best Before dates up to and including 14th February 2008," Mr Gunnell said. "We ask that anyone with these specified products should ensure that they are not consumed."

Mr Gunnell said that consumers who have this product should return it to the place where it was purchased for a full refund.

"We ask anyone with family and friends who may have purchased these products to contact them, in case they may not be aware of the recall," Mr Gunnell said.

Mr Gunnell stressed that no other KIT KAT products are affected by this recall.

"Nestlé sincerely apologises for any inconvenience this product recall may cause," Mr Gunnell said.

Enquiries can be directed to Nestlé New Zealand Consumer Services 0800 830 840 between 8.00am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
