Travel and Tourism Industry Expo
Travel and Tourism Industry Expo
The annual ITC
Industry Expo is a great opportunity for students to meet
with representatives from New Zealands’ travel and tourism
industry and this year’s Expo was the biggest and best one
yet!
For one day each year, the College is transformed into an Expo site and companies representing all sectors of the travel and tourism industry are invited to showcase their product to ITC students.
Students have the opportunity to hear first hand product information from current industry professionals. Presenters at this year’s Expo covered all sectors of the industry from travel agencies to airlines, from 5 star hotels to adrenalin activity operators.
“We pride ourselves on making
sure we maintain that vital link between industry and our
students. It really is a win-win situation, giving industry
the opportunity to promote their products to over 400
potential clients and offering our students the opportunity
to learn more about the amazing career paths they can
take,” said Michelle Chatfied, City Campus Manager and
Expo Organiser.
“For students to see how passionate
these people are about the industry is a huge motivator for
them,” said Carolyn Nugent, ITC General
Manager.
Presenters this year included Fullers, The
Langham Hotel, Tourism Auckland, Tourmasters, Tourism
Recruit, Auckland Central Backpackers and International
Exchange Programs. The Industry feedback praised our
students’ enthusiasm, presentation and professionalism.
“What smart, well dressed and passionate students
you have at ITC. They are a credit to the College and will
do well in the industry” said Eris Fink from
Tourmasters.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day
too. “The day was very valuable in helping me to decide
where I want to work in the industry. It was so interesting
and very inspiring to learn more about the world of travel
and tourism” said Amanda. “It has opened my eyes more to
the options available and it has given me a good idea of
where I want to be in the future” said Rebecca.
