Adidas To Supply Gear To Club Teams

Adidas To Supply Gear To Club Teams

adidas New Zealand is set to expand its relationship with rugby in New Zealand, with the announcement that the sportswear giant will now be producing apparel for club teams nationwide.

The announcement comes as a result of a deal struck between adidas and Lane Walker Rudkin Industries Ltd. [LWR], who now have the licence to produce adidas branded team wear.

adidas New Zealand Managing Director Greig Bramwell said the deal gives adidas a real opportunity to extend its rugby brand in New Zealand, working from grass roots through to elite level.

"adidas already produces apparel for the All Blacks, one of the world's most well-known sporting brands, and the Rebel Sport Super 14 tournament," Greig said.

"It's great that we are now able to offer our range through to grass roots level, where the future of New Zealand rugby begins."

Greig said the deal with LWR is effective immediately, and will be reviewed in three years time.

"LWR as the licensee will manufacture all of the adidas team wear, and all ordering will be handled by their customer services team."

LWR Chairman Ken Anderson  said the organisation, which manufactures, dyes, prints and embroiders a wide range of products, including team wear for cricket, rugby league and netball at its factory in Christchurch, is proud to be working with one of the world's biggest sporting brands."adidas currently does some fantastic things for elite rugby in New Zealand.  We are pleased that now we can help the brand to offer the same excellent product to club level."
