Northpower Lineman Electrocuted
Date: Wednesday 18th July
Subject: Northpower Lineman Electrocuted.
At 10am today a Northpower
lineman was electrocuted while working on low voltage power
lines.
The lineman was seriously injured during a routine pole replacement, which was required after a car had hit the pole on Monday afternoon.
Co-workers onsite at the time of the accident reacted quickly and competently. They commenced CPR immediately and continued until an ambulance arrived. As a result, the injured man is now in a stable but serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Whangarei Base Hospital.
Preliminary investigations both internal and external are currently underway but it is too early to say exactly what happened.
The injured man is an experienced line mechanic who has worked for the company for over four years.
