Purefresh Organic celebrates 10 years as leader in supermarket organic produce

Purefresh Organic is celebrating its 10th anniversary as the market leader in supplying supermarkets with certified organic fruit and vegetables.

Purefresh Organic has grown the organic produce category exponentially since it started supplying its fresh fruit and vegetables to nationwide supermarket chains Progressive Enterprises and Foodstuffs.

Since the arrival of Purefresh Organic more certified organic growers have entered the market and built successful agricultural businesses around the supply to Purefresh Organic.

These days there are over 100 certified organic growers that support Purefresh Organic’s business. Many growers converted to organic production methods because of the surge in consumer demand for organically produced fruit and vegetables.

Anna Aloma, General Manager, Purefresh Organic says: “Organic produce is grown locally which supports local growers and the New Zealand economy.

“Our growers have supplied Purefresh Organic with the best certified organic produce New Zealand soil has to offer for 10 years,” she says.

Purefresh Organic has 95 percent of supermarket sales of fresh, high quality certified organic produce and is represented in 200 supermarkets nationwide.

Their organic produce range includes any fruit and vegetables in season including: avocados, zucchini, carrots, broccoli, potatoes, onions, cauliflowers, beans, avocados, blueberries, kiwifruit, oranges, pears and apples, tomatoes and summer fruit amongst its more popular lines.

Purefresh Organic is privately owned by Fresh Direct’s Peter and Jeffery Turner – great grandsons of Edward Turner – New Zealand produce industry pioneer and founder of Turners & Growers.
