Sickness benefit
changes welcomed
Changes to the Working New Zealand
programme relating to sickness and invalid benefits are a
positive move, according to Business NZ.
Business NZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly said there was agreement that systems should be improved to help more people improve their health status and engage in appropriate work.
“Streamlining the collection of medical information and making it more aligned with clinical practice should help bring more informed decisions and lessen the need for repeated form-filling,” Mr O’Reilly said.
”In the context of a worldwide increase in people on illness and disability benefits, Working New Zealand’s plans to improve the transition back to work are very worthwhile.
“Given our tight labour market, it is good to see attention being paid to the systems surrounding health and disability.”
