PSP Sheds Weight for Summer

PSP Sheds Weight for Summer

Wherever you're heading this summer, the new PSP Slim and Lite will be your ultimate portable entertainment system

NEW ZEALAND, Wednesday, 19 September 2007: Spring is here and summer is just around the corner. Now, with the lighter, slimmer new PlayStation®Portable, taking your entertainment with you to the Bach, beach or on a road trip has never been easier.

Available now, the new PSP Slim & Lite is sleeker and has the added feature of video-out. PlayStation Portable is now is 33% lighter and 19% slimmer but still retains the large 4.3inch wide high resolution LCD screen as well as all the capabilities the original PSP is known for - from playing your favourite music, watching movies and playing the latest PSP games.

The new video-out feature enables your new PSP to connect to your TV allowing you to watch high quality UMD™ (Universal Media Disc) movies, view pictures or movies from Memory Stick and even play any of your favourite PSP games. Other new features include reducing load time during game play (game data can now be temporarily stored from UMD) and the ability to charge the PSP through PLAYSTATION®3 or PC via a USB cable (even during data transfer).

During the two and a half years since the launch of PSP in December 2004, strong support from consumers worldwide as well as an abundance of exciting software titles from publishers have resulted in PSP achieving a cumulative shipment of 25 million units for the hardware and 100 million units for software titles globally by March 2007.
