Look Learn Invest - new website to help investors

News release

Look Learn Invest - new website to help investors

The Securities Commission today launched a campaign aimed at helping people make better investment decisions.

The campaign is focused on a dedicated website www.looklearninvest.org.nz and provides information so that people are able to choose investments that suit their needs and meet their goals. To do this they need to know what investments are available to them, and what the risks of those investments are.

Companies who offer investments must explain the risks and other aspects of the investment in their offer documents. However, it is important that investors know how to use this information to decide whether or not an investment is right for them.

The website www.looklearninvest.org.nz answers the questions:

• What kinds of investments are available?
• What does risk have to do with investing?
• Why is my personal financial situation important when I plan to invest?
• Where can I get information about investments?
• What should I expect from an investment adviser?
• How does the law help investors in New Zealand?

The campaign to invite people to www.looklearninvest.org.nz is supported by a series of advertisements in several major national newspapers and on the internet.
