Coronet Peak Bike Park Passes Now On Sale

The Coronet Peak Bike Park near Queenstown is gearing up for its third mountain bike season with season passes now on sale from www.nzski.com.

Novice riders and seasoned mountain bikers alike can enjoy a variety of trails at the Park every day from January 3 2008 through to February 3 2008 (10.30am to 7.30pm weather permitting).

Season passes are available at $199 adult and $149 youth. A loyalty discount is available to holders of a 2007 winter season pass at $149 adult and $99 youth. The passes are available from today (midnight, Thursday 29th November) through eBuy, Coronet Peak’s secure online season pass shop at www.nzski.com.

Multi-day passes are also on offer including a One Day Multi-Ride pass available at $35 adult and $25 youth, a Five Day Multi-Ride pass available at $140 adult and $100 youth and a Single Ride/Sightseeing pass for $17 adult and $12 youth.

Southern Alpine Recreation General Manager - Sales and Marketing David Ovendale said the passes were designed to cater for a variety of people pursuing different experiences on the mountain.

“Coronet Peak is a recreation reserve and its rolling terrain makes for superb mountain biking for all levels of rider. It’s a great way to get people into the mountains and enjoying facilities that prior to the Park’s establishment were only used during winter.

“Elite riders can push themselves to the limit throughout the season while families can enjoy a summer alpine day out taking the chairlift to the top of the mountain to appreciate the stunning alpine scenery and downhill action before gently coasting down the downhill cross country track.

“The beauty is that there’s no need to ride uphill as access back to the top is by the Coronet Express Quad chairlift.”

Queenstown’s top outdoor adventure outfitters Outside Sports will provide a quality mountain bike rental service at the Bike Park base area.

Coronet Peak is hosting several first class mountain biking events this season. The National Mountain Bike series runs from 4 - 6 January 2008, the Vertigo Chain Free Downhill is on 19 January 2008 and the Fat Tyre Brake Burner (six hour endurance race) will take place on 2 February 2008.
