Youth skills are our future

Youth skills are our
future
Business NZ endorses the focus on skills by both main political parties.
Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly says his organisation has been working with both parties for some time and he’s pleased that the message on skills is getting through.
“Skills are our future – they are the pathway to a better economy and a better life for all New Zealanders.
“In the proposals put forward by both main parties, it will be important to focus strongly on the skills themselves, not just the fact of a longer time served at school or other educational facility.
“Any schemes undertaken will need to ensure a wide range of educational choices both in and out of school, and schemes involving business and schools will need to avoid being too bureaucratic.”
Business NZ is a member of the working group for the Unified Skills Strategy and other skills-related initiatives.
