Sail NZ Purchases Pride of Auckland

Sail NZ, America's Cup Sailing Purchases Pride of Auckland

Explore NZ (parent company to Sail NZ) are pleased to announce their latest acquisition, the 'Pride of Auckland' sailing company.

Pride of Auckland has been operating as a tourism activity in Auckland Harbour for the last 30 years. Founded in 1978 it has become an iconic part of Auckland sailing heritage, 'The City of Sails'.

Pride of Auckland was the original breeding and stomping ground for many America's Cup and professional sailors such as Craig Monk and Chris McAsey.

Sail NZ run the hugely popular and successful NZL 40 & NZL 41 America's Cup yachts from the Viaduct Harbour, supplying team building, corporate charters and daily public sailings from the Viaduct Harbour.

The Pride of Auckland yachts have recently been modified and now provide the perfect environment for fun and laid back yachting experiences on the Hauraki Gulf.

Pride of Auckland's kitchen supplies fabulous Pacific Rim cuisine to New Zealand and International Guests alike.

Managing Director, William Goodfellow, says 'the opportunity to purchase a business with great history that is held in such high regard is exciting. With the experience our team already has with the America's Cup sailing operation, (Sail NZ), we know the addition of Pride of Auckland to our existing business is a perfect fit'. Explore NZ is committed to the tourism industry, attractions and activities in Auckland 'The City of Sails'.
