AA technicians restart industrial action campaign
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union members at the Automobile Association have restarted their industrial action campaign.
The roadside technicians, who voted to reject the association’s last offer, will not be taking strike action over Easter but are rolling out escalating action starting with an indefinite ban on sales of AA car batteries – a significant source of revenue for the association.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little says the workers are determined to get a fair deal.
“These workers are highly experienced tradespeople working long and disruptive shifts and all they want from the company is decent recognition of that.
“The sticking points in this dispute are still national pay-parity and long-service leave and although the AA’s last offer began to address these issues it has obviously not gone far enough for our members.
“The signal we are getting from our members at AA is that they are in this for the long-haul and will keep pushing until they get a deal they are happy with, however they do not want their fight for a fair deal to cause serious disruption to AA members over the holiday break.”
Members will meet again after Easter to decide the next step in their campaign.
The EPMU represents one hundred and eighty AA roadside technicians.
