The New Zealand Contractors’ Federation has
welcomed the National Party’s commitment to infrastructure
investment
Leader John Key told the party’s Southern Regional Conference that a National government would invest in infrastructure to promote productivity and growth.
NZCF Chief Executive Richard Michael said: “It is good to see that National has outlined its commitment to infrastructure.
“This is crucial for New Zealand if we are to increase our productivity – and for us to make our way up OECD rankings then productivity has to improve.”
Mr Key told the conference that a nationwide infrastructure deficit has severely constrained economic productivity and growth. He said National would use public-private partnerships to repair a deficit in areas such as transport and communications - including up to $1.5 billion to accelerate the roll out of ultra-fast fibre.
