Pisa Range Estate - UK Sommeliers Choice

Press Release – for immediate release

Pisa Range Estate - UK Sommeliers Choice

The Central Otago 2006 Pisa Range Estate “Black Poplar Block” Pinot Noir was one of only nine wines from the New World to make the Short-List at
2008 Sommelier Wine Awards - UK announced in London this week.

The wine was selected by over 40 of the UK’s leading Masters of Wine, Sommeliers, and others involved in the on-premise trade in the UK. Summarising this year’s pinot noir entries the judges commented - “New Zealand was not the dominating force that our judges expected and finesse, rather than mere competence, remains elusive for all, but a few”.

“It is very encouraging to be selected by such discerning judges for this award. said Pisa Range Estate owner Warwick Hawker. We are a small boutique vineyard that aims to produce fine wine to match fine food. This endorsement from some of the UK’s leading sommeliers and restaurateurs who described the 2006 Pisa Range Estate “Black Poplar Block” Pinot Noir as “pure and polished” would suggest we are on the right track. Pisa Range Estate wines are listed at many fine dining restaurants across New Zealand and around the world and this award will assist in raising our profile further in the UK market” he said.
