PEPANZ supports proposed RMA amendment
The Government’s proposed changes to the Resource Management Act will improve the consent process at a “nuts and bolts” level, says the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand.
Pepanz executive officer John Pfahlert said today the amendments tackled the issues which face all consent applicants – from the majority of consenters with smaller projects through to those of national significance.
“There is a lot in there which will help to make the process more workable overall.”
He said the ability to apply directly to the Environmental Protection Authority for projects of national significance was a welcome move and would help to hasten the development of large electricity generation projects.
