Upcoming Environment Court Hearing

Media release: Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd

Upcoming Environment Court Hearing

26 February 2009 – The Environment Court appeal hearing for Holcim (New Zealand) Ltd’s proposed cement plant near Oamaru is due to start on Monday 9 March.

A Holcim newsletter (attached) being circulated to approximately 8,000 Oamaru residents this week provides an outline of the Environment Court process, details how the case will be heard in two parts, and sets out possible next steps for the project once the appeal outcome is known.

Support being given by Holcim to primary school students in Hamilton is also outlined. The students are aiming to halve their ecological footprint by building New Zealand’s first eco-classroom using eco-friendly building materials.
