Award Winning Broker Sets Up In The Capital

Award winning Mike Pero Mortgages Mortgage and Insurance Broker, Darren Lawson, has opened up a new franchise in Wellington.

In 2004 Darren started up his successful Mike Pero Mortgages franchise in Auckland, but having a young family led him to reassess his future.

“I developed a very strong client base in Auckland and hence had a very successful business,” he says.

“But I have two children under the age of five and no family living in Auckland. All our family and support networks are in Wellington, so it made sense to make the move now before our kids started school.”

Darren says he could have gone out on his own in Wellington, but the Mike Pero Mortgages brand was too strong to walk away from.

“I’ve put my heart and soul into Mike Pero Mortgages over the past few years. It’s a brand that has trust and credibility associated with it. I love the way the company is heading - it has diversified and now offers a whole range of products and services to clients. It just made sense for me to stay with this company and set up a franchise here in Wellington.”

Darren has a new office based in Lambton Quay, but he says he is looking forward to servicing clients throughout the greater Wellington region.

“Coming from Auckland, where you can spend hours on the motorway, a 45-minute trip to Wainuiomata seems like nothing!”

Darren says the challenge of setting up another successful franchise in the capital is exciting and he looks forward to the challenge.

“The next 12 months will be about building the name. With good ground-work and networking, I’m hoping to achieve success here in Wellington.”

Darren says he is now an accredited insurance manger, as well as mortgage manager, and can therefore offer clients a wider range of services.
