Quantas Slash Fuel Surcharges

Qantas to Remove Domestic and Further Reduce International Fuel Surcharges

AUCKLAND, Mar. 2/ Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --

Qantas announced today that it would remove its New Zealand domestic fuel
surcharges and significantly reduce its international fuel surcharges.

The changes will apply to all New Zealand point of sale tickets issued on or
after Tuesday 3 March 2009.

The domestic surcharge was NZ$21.40. The lower international surcharges will be:

One way from New Zealand

* UK and Europe
New surcharge (NZ$) $115
Previously (NZ$) $180.60

* Mainland USA, Canada, South America, South Africa, Honolulu
New surcharge (NZ$) $100
Previously (NZ$) $150.60

* Asia
New surcharge (NZ$) $75
Previously (NZ$) $120.60

* Australia
New surcharge (NZ$) $40
Previously (NZ$) $65.60

Qantas Regional General Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands, Mr Grant
Lilly, said the airline had been closely monitoring oil prices and surcharges
in recent months.

“We are responding today, with the removal of fuel surcharges for all Qantas
New Zealand domestic bookings,” he said.

“International surcharges will remain for now, but are being significantly
reduced and will remain under review.”
