CEO must front in stalled talks - EPMU
Flight attendants working for Air New Zealand subsidiary Zeal have called on Air New Zealand CEO Rob Fyfe to front up and negotiate after talks today brought the parties no closer together says the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union.
The company improved its offer by increasing a one-off payment by $150 per person and offering a further 0.05% on the base rate.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little says the company’s offer is the latest in a series of attempts to drag negotiations out and that CEO Rob Fyfe now needs to get involved.
"The company have recently refused to negotiate without me at the table but even after we agreed to that they have still refused to bargain in any meaningful sense. It’s now time for Rob Fyfe to front up and explain to our members why he believes they don’t deserve to be paid fairly.
"This is an issue of fundamental fairness, we have reduced our claims and bargained in good faith but have not yet heard a good reason why our members’ claims cannot be met.
“Air New Zealand is a profitable company and these claims certainly do not threaten its long term sustainability in any way.”
Further talks have been scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
