Ports of Auckland welcomes progress
on Waterview Connection
Ports of Auckland Managing
Director Jens Madsen today welcomed the New Zealand
Transport Agency’s announcement on the Waterview
Connection and the progress made towards completing the
Western Ring Route.
Mr Madsen said that after years
of delay, it was good to finally get a decision and to have
some certainty about the project, which will deliver
significant economic and supply chain
benefits.
“As the final link in the Western Ring
Route, the Waterview Connection is of strategic importance
to the Auckland economy and supply chain,” Mr Madsen
said.
Mr Madsen said the historic lack of
investment in Auckland’s transport network had been a
handbrake on regional growth and
productivity.
“It’s vitally important that
progress on the project continues in a timely
manner.”
