New properties join Choice Hotels New Zealand
Choice
Hotels Australasia (CHA) has expanded its portfolio with the
addition of three New Zealand properties.
Quality Hotel
Barrycourt in Parnell, Auckland, Comfort Inn Alcala in
Dunedin and Comfort Inn Tayesta in Invercargill offers
visitors comfortable accommodation at competitive
rates.
These newest additions mark the further
expansion of Choice Hotels into the New Zealand market, with
them being the first new properties for 2009.
Choice Hotels Australasia CEO David Bayes said the signing of these new properties demonstrates the strength of the Choice brands in New Zealand and the support they can provide during challenging economic times. “The signing of these three hotels in New Zealand further strengthens our presence in the New Zealand accommodation market. And as in previous years we expect to see continued growth of our brand in the New Zealand market.”
The Quality Hotel Barrycourt is situated in the beautiful leafy inner city suburb of Parnell. Within walking distance of the 99 room hotel is the historic Parnell village, the Auckland War Memorial Museum and the Parnell Rose Gardens. Auckland’s bustling CBD and popular shopping precinct of Newmarket is a short drive away. The accommodation ranges from studio, king and double rooms to 1 and 2 bedroom suites, with north facing suites having extensive harbour and city views from private balconies. There are kitchen facilities in 59 rooms, with tea and coffee making facilities in 40 rooms. Other facilities include a conference centre, 24-hour limited room service, restaurant and free onsite car parking. Quality Hotel Barrycourt is run by the Norman F B Barry Trust, an organisation that donates all profits to charities.
Nestled in the tree-clad hills of Otago Peninsula is Dunedin, regarded as the architectural heritage and student capital of New Zealand. This South Island city is home to Larnach Castle, the University of Otago and some of the world’s rarest wildlife. Not far from the CBD is the Comfort Inn Alcala. All of the 23 rooms are fully self-contained with kitchen facilities with some units offering spa baths. Room sizes range from studio to 2-bedroom suites, which can sleep up to seven people. There is also a complimentary private spa pool and guest laundry. Business facilities include wireless internet access, fax, copier and printing. Close by is the university campus, Otago Museum and the Dunedin Botanic Gardens as well as a variety of pubs, restaurants and shopping centres.
Invercargill, New Zealand’s southern-most city, is the gateway to Stewart Island, Fiordland, the Catlins and Queenstown. Renowned for its fine heritage buildings, stunning surroundings and friendly locals, this small city has built a reputation as a must-stop for tourists. One of the warmest welcomes you’ll find in Invercargill is at the Comfort Inn Tayesta. Recently refurbished, the 12 self-contained units have fully-equipped kitchens, complimentary tea and coffee, LCD televisions and high-speed internet connections. Other facilities include off-street parking, guest laundry and spa.
Bayes said the Choice brands in New Zealand are well positioned to meet all the needs of the corporate or leisure traveller. “The addition of another property in Auckland obviously allows us to continue to offer our guests accommodation at convenient locations in quality surrounds,” Bayes said.
“The new properties in Dunedin and Invercargill complement our presence on the southern drive route, which is great for travellers experiencing what the South Island has to offer.”
