9.9% International arrivals were up against April 2008 mainly due to positive impact of Easter falling in April this year compared with March last year.
23.1% Significant increase in arrivals from Australia against April 2008 reflecting an increased emphasis on tourism from this market and enhanced services.
-5.5% Total domestic aircraft movements were down against same period last year, indicating the continued impact of the reduced Qantas domestic services from December 2008.
New Service Jetstar commenced trans-Tasman services from Auckland on 28th April 2009 with two scheduled flights per day creating an additional 258,000 seats between Australia and Auckland each year.
