PRINZ Announces New Life Member

Passion, commitment and service to the Public Relations industry was rewarded last evening when Auckland practitioner Tim Marshall was awarded Life Membership to the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand.

National President, Fiona Cassidy noted his comments when he first took on the role, “He said on being made President that his aim was to polish the image of the PR industry and to turn PRINZ into a powerful industry body that is well organised and respected. I’m sure that the consensus of members is that he achieved that, and he continues to give his time and energy.

Marshall was the National President from 2002 to 2005 after eight years as Vice-President and many years on the Northern Division committee. He has been a passionate advocate for the industry being responsible for PRINZ first website and many of the industry initiatives prior to the establishment of a national office. He has also been heavily involved in the establishment of the Global Alliance “ the international collective of industry associations “ in fact hosting the annual meeting in Auckland during the America's cup in 2003.

Marshall is a graduate of the ATI Journalism course and worked on the Auckland Star in the early 80’s before moving into the world of PR consulting. He is a director of consultancy, Communication by Design and lectures part time at Unitec.

PRINZ also announced two new Fellows. Philip Burton from Hamilton City Council and Wellingtonian, Michael Player from the NZ Police were inducted at the annual PRINZ Conference in Wellington.

Other appointments see Graeme Purches from Trustpower in Tauranga taking over as National President, with Jane Dodd from Network PR in Auckland as President Elect.
