Primary Growth Partnership

PRESS RELEASE
FROM WOOD COUNCIL OF NEW ZEALAND INC

Representing Forest Owners Association, Wood Processors Association, Farm Forestry Association, Pine Manufacturers Association and
Forest Industry Contractors Association

Primary Growth Partnership

The forest and wood products industry welcomes the initiative taken by the National Government in supporting innovation and development of the industry.

The inclusion of the industry is seen to reflect the importance and the contribution made to the betterment of New Zealand.

It comes at a time of financial difficulty for all and as such the commitment carries added weight.

Discussions have been progressing over time on new developments including the N.Z. Wood programme and the continuance of this programme along with other new initiatives will be with the support of all participants.

The industry has maintained an active level of participation with the Government and looks forward to the continuance of this both direct with the Minister and with officials as required.

It is always worthy to note that in addition to the employment opportunities and the export earnings that our industry provide we also contribute significantly in terms of carbon capture and recreational capabilities all providing benefit to New Zealand as a whole.

It always remains our objective to maintain our capabilities as strong corporate citizens adding to the economy of New Zealand.
