Opportunities for NZ Wine Producers in Hong Kong

Uncorking Opportunities for New Zealand Wine Producers in Hong Kong and China
Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair

An expression of interest is being called for a formation of a New Zealand Pavilion at the upcoming Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair 4-6 November 2009 organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC)
Ms Bonnie Shek, Director of HKTDC (Australia / New Zealand) quoted that “The inaugural Fair in 2008 was attended with over 8,758 trade buyers from 55 countries and over 10,000 public visitors attending. On Showcase were over 240 international exhibitors including a New Zealand Pavilion consisting of Coppers Creek, Te Motu, Kauri Vineyards, Twilight Vineyards, Mai Mai Creek (Stirling Wines), Brennan Wines, Drumsara, Domian Jaqueiry, Mebus Estate, and NZ Focus Centre”

Johnny Leung, Co-Owner of Twilight Vineyards, NZ comments on his experience in 2008

“This is a great opportunity now that the Hong Kong Government has dropped the wine tax. This has lowered the cost for people like me, because we are a very small winery with limited resources. Now we have a better chance to get into the Hong Kong market. With two days for the trade and one day for the public, the show had a very good balance. It’s a great opportunity to build my brand awareness. I’ve seen a very international group of people. I’d be happy to come back, particularly in November which is a better time for us.”

In 2009 the Fair will feature leading wine dealers, cellars and vineyards from around the world in exhibitor categories including liquor and beverage products, wine production, fine gourmet food and premium snacks, logistics and wine accessories. Wine investors, hoteliers, distributors, restaurants, catering companies and sommeliers from the Asian market, China in particular and around the globe will attend this event
