Mainzeal appoints New Zealand CEO

Mainzeal, one of New Zealand’s largest property and construction companies, has appointed its chief operating officer Peter Gomm as the company’s new chief executive.

Peter joined Mainzeal in 2007 and brings to the new role many years of significant experience in the construction industry and responsibility for the delivery of a number of significant major construction projects in New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the UK.

Announcing the appointment, Mainzeal Chair Jenny Shipley said Peter Gomm had stabilised and greatly improved the performance of the construction company during his two years as chief operating officer, helping to achieve “Building Certainty” through client partnerships and working collaboratively with all stakeholders.

“The board of Mainzeal looks forward to achieving further improvements from Mainzeal under Peter’s ongoing leadership,” said Shipley.

“We will explore our strategic direction, with the intention of confirming our role as a leading New Zealand construction company, while exploring broader opportunities to diversify the business in response to emerging investment intentions from the Government and private sector.

“As markets have changed and opportunities are emerging, we wish to explore the full range of options, including joining with global strategic partners, broadening the scope of our business and investigating the potential of strategically targeted acquisitions.”
