Hollywood, California--You can’t take the hori (Maori) out of the New Zealander in Hollywood. This is Sam Cruickshank’s story, a New Zealand blogger, publicist, author and screenwriter from Whangarei, now living in Hollywood, California—The Entertainment Capital of The World.
Sam has the website, http://Horiwood.Com , which, in the mode of entertainment websites like Perez Hilton.Com and People.Com (both valued at $26 million, respectively) is a Hollywood entertainment and celebrity news website. The New Zealander has now garnered 900,000 page views on his Hollywood-based website.
Heading up to the one million page views mark, a moment beyond Sam’s understanding or wildest dreams, Sam is looking forward to promoting New Zealand and Australian products via his entertainment website in Hollywood.
Says Sam, “I started Horiwood.Com 8 months ago, just to let the whanau (family) and friends back home know what entertainment and celebrity news topics were hot here in Hollywood. It took too much time to write emails about it all. So the blog was like my letter to my siblings and my mom.”
“No one was more shocked than I was to reach the 45,000 page views mark, which is the total population of my hometown Whangarei City that I grew up in. So I just kept it going.”
Horiwoood.Com has now grown into a website that is capable of promoting New Zealand travel destinations, people, products and brands to help grow and promote the New Zealand economy from Los Angeles, a city with a population of 20 million.”
Cruickshank’s goal is to position quality, fun and entertaining New Zealand products and the New Zealand experience into the content of his blog each day. 58% of Sam’s audience is based in the USA, which has a media market of 330 million people.
New Zealand business brands like Air New Zealand, Tourism New Zealand, AJ Hackett Bungy Jump, Adventure Tourism outlets and New Zealand Entertainment Media outlets and magazine’s are being offered the first opportunity to advertise and have prime positioning on Horiwood.Com. However, selected small business start-ups can advertise on Sam’s website too.
“I believe in growing the small business person too. Anyone who has a quality product that can be ordered and shipped out of New Zealand, would benefit from being featured on my blog. I see it as a real chance to promote New Zealand products. America loves the quality of New Zealand made produce and products. We are seen as a green thinking paradise haven and our New Zealand brand is strong. Yet there is very little promotion here of what New Zealand has to offer.
“It excites me to be positioned in Hollywood to promote New Zealand business and foreign trade more here in the US via Los Angeles,” says Cruickshank.
