STA Travel is on top of the world yet again after being voted Australasia’s Leading Travel Agency at a global awards ceremony in London last weekend.
STA Travel claimed the title at the World Travel Awards for the Caribbean, South America, Asia, Australasia and Indian Ocean in a gala event at the five-star Grosvenor House.
Regarded by the Wall Street Journal as the “Oscars” of the global travel and tourism industries, the awards recognise excellence in all aspects of travel services including product range, customer service, company culture and technology.
Managing Director of STA Travel Asia Pacific, Michelle Cox, said the company always sought to adapt to their constantly changing market whilst maintaining an ongoing commitment to its core youth customers.
In November last year STA Travel moved to strengthen its niche-market position launching a new look and broader product range in addition to the free-spirited adventure on which the company was originally based.
The brand refresh program included a new logo, new website, a new shop design as well as an enhanced product offering to incorporate the needs of the changing market.
“What we’ve always done well at STA Travel is understand our customers - where they want to travel, what they are willing to spend and, most importantly, how they want to interact with a travel agent,’’ Ms Cox said.
“By constantly re-evaluating our approach whilst respecting this commitment, we’ve been able to stay relevant to our market and keep ahead of our competitors,’’ she said.
Nearly 3000 travel companies were nominated in more than 200 categories for the 2009 World Travel Awards.
