NZSki Scoops Queenstown Business Awards

Media release from NZSki Ltd
30 November 2009

NZSki Scoops Queenstown Business Awards

The company that operates three New Zealand premier ski areas, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt, has been again recognised for business excellence.

The company was named 2009 Westpac Supreme Business of the Year and winner of the large business category (50+ employees) at the Commerce Queenstown Business Excellence Awards last Friday (November 27).

The awards come just weeks after the company’s innovative NZSki-U employee development programme won both the Supreme Award and Tomorrow’s Workforce Award at this year’s Equal Employment Opportunities Trust Work and Life awards on October 29.

NZSki CEO James Coddington and several members of his management team were delighted to accept the awards at a gala dinner in Queenstown on Friday evening.

“These awards are about the value we as a company place on teamwork both within and without – it’s about valuing our employees and the relationships with our suppliers and communities,” said Mr Coddington.

“We sat down as a team last October and worked through a strategy on how we could make the 2009 winter season the best ever. Over the season we applied that strategy and with a wee bit of help from the snow gods we achieved our best season ever.”

Mr Coddington said the company had made huge headway with demonstrable results in many facets of the business over the past three years and he looked forward to further gains in the coming years.

“We have built a fantastic team of people and with a continuing programme of investment into our ski areas and strong relationships with the Queenstown and Methven communities, national ski industry and integral suppliers such as the airlines, we look forward to raising the bar again next year.”
